The next Saturday meeting for 2008 will now take place on
Sat 11th October at the Ruishton Inn.

The meeting for Sat 11th October 2008 will take place between the hours of 11am and 4pm at the Ruishton Inn which is located a couple of miles from the Taunton exit of the M5 (Jn 25). The proprietors, Malcolm & Caroline, kindly allow us the use of their large bowling alley area for piping, and they also have a good lunchtime menu. The Ruishton Inns phone number is: 01823 442285.

SWAUP Saturday meetings are fairly informal - there is playing both individually and together; there is opportunity for learning tunes, for sorting out piping problems, for help and instruction; on occasion there has even been some reed-making.

The Association also holds an annual "piping weekend" or "mini-tionol", at which we usually arrange for guest pipers of renown to instruct us and regale us with their supreme art. The first of these was held in 1990 in Torquay, Devon, and since that time we have had the privilege of welcoming John Murphy, Ronnie Wathen, Mick O'Brien, Tommy Keane, Mikey Smyth, Mickey Dunne, Nollaig McCarthy, Martin Nolan, Gay McKeon, Tommy Martin, Neillidh O Maolagain, Brian McNamara and Kevin Rowsome. The weekend has also provided reed-making instruction led by Mick Gill, Keith Powell, Dave Williams, Alan Moller and Alan Burton.
